One month in London!

This week was our last week of the first project of our course. I was so sad to conclude our time with the history plays by Shakespeare. I feel like I finally got the hang of the plays and our time ended. I am inspired to learn more about the content of the plays. However, I am also a little excited to take a small break from Shakespeare as we go into our new section of the comedy of manners. This section will focus on restoration comedy and beyond. It mainly deals with wit or word based comedy. I cannot wait for the word play that will occur. The sad part about switching projects means we have to change teachers and half of our classmates will switch too. I feel like our group was a really great ensemble and I couldn’t have wished for a better start to the program.

I ended up seeing two shows this week! I saw Motive and the Cue and The Play that Goes Wrong. Both shows were amazing! Motive and the Cue focused on the rehearsal process for the 1964 production of Hamlet with Richard Burton and John Gielgud. The play was a wonderful combination of inside the actors mind and inside the director’s mind. I enjoyed the way the actors had to switch between acting as the character while playing another character, and just acting as the character they were. I ended up crying at the end because they showed the stats about the actual production and it just reminded me how amazing theater is. The other show I saw was The Play that Goes Wrong by Mischief. Originally I had purchased slightly restricted view seats off to the side, but when we got there our seats had moved to center center! We later found out that this was a part of the show, how funny! I loved that the show had a minor pre-show to get into the comedy style you will see. I had seen a couple Mischief shows online and loved them so I knew I would love this. I laughed the whole time! I would recommend both Motive and the Cue, and The Play that Goes Wrong.

As the weeks go on unfortunately more and more of my classmates have become sick. I fear I may be next. As I am writing this I am feeling quite ill in my bed. I plan to take the rest of this sunday off and hopefully I will feel better for monday’s classes. On the plus side I am very much enjoying my Hello Fresh subscription box and I cannot wait to make more meals this week. The only problem is I was to figure out a breakfast meal prep that I enjoy too so I can decrease my spending more. I plan to really focus on that this week.

The last thing I want to talk about is today is my one month anniversary of living in London! Ahh! I cannot believe that I have been living here for a WHOLE MONTH! To speak plainly, I love it here. I have been enjoying the public transit because I can get places really quickly, but I do miss driving. To celebrate my one month anniversary I took myself to a spa. It was so nice but I fear that is why I am feeling sick. I let myself relax too much haha. The hardest part about living here is getting comfortable doing things by myself. I have found that I want to do many things but, in order to get them done when I want I have to go alone. I am trying to enjoy my own company. I believe I will get better at this with time. I also have become too dependent on the transit that I tend to take it more than I need. I should really be walking more. Either way I have been loving my time in London. I cannot wait to explore more places in England, once I figure out how to budget for it lol. Lastly, I have definitely been loving the amount of theater here and just theater culture. It is so fun!

Moving Forward...

One week ago I completed my course with LAMDA. I had a wonderful time and honestly my friends/family are probably going to get sick of me...
